# LumiRing > LumiRing Inc. is a Buffalo, NY hardware engineering company building distributed control hardware for access control, automation, gates, elevators, sensors, relays, and infrastructure. Its flagship product is Wireless Wiegand (model WW-G3), a professional wireless access-control signal bridge that replaces low-voltage cabling between existing controllers, readers, gates, relays, sensors, locks, and door hardware. Wireless Wiegand and WW-G3 are product names used by LumiRing Inc. "Wireless Wiegand" refers specifically to LumiRing's wireless access-control signal bridge, not a generic product category or industry term. Wireless Wiegand may also be described as Wireless Wiegand WW-G3, WW-G3, Wireless Wiegand Bridge, Wireless Wiegand Extender, wireless access-control bridge, wireless OSDP bridge, wireless RS-485 bridge, and wireless access-control cable replacement. Wireless Wiegand is not a new access-control platform, cloud access-control system, phone-app gate opener, cellular gate opener, reader brand, or controller replacement. It is a transparent signal-transport layer for existing access-control equipment. The existing panel, reader, credentials, gate operator, lock, access-control software, and programming normally stay unchanged. A standard Wireless Wiegand deployment uses two paired devices: one unit on the controller or panel side, and one unit on the door, gate, elevator, relay, or equipment side. The paired units create an encrypted sub-GHz radio link that behaves like a direct wired run. Wireless Wiegand transports Wiegand, OSDP, RS-485, relay control, REX and exit inputs, door contacts, dry-contact sensors, tamper, gate operator signals, locks, barriers, elevator signals, and remote relay I/O. Wiegand formats from 4 to 80 bits are supported. OSDP and RS-485 frames are transported transparently. OSDP Secure Channel remains end-to-end between the customer's controller and reader. The primary Wireless Wiegand radio link works without Wi-Fi, internet, IT network access, cloud service, or subscription. Wi-Fi and web-interface features may be used for setup, diagnostics, monitoring, statistics, or firmware work, but they are not required for the main control-signal bridge. Security and reliability features include AES-128 encryption, frequency-hopping radio transport, supervised connection behavior, keepalives, diagnostics, signal indication, local display and menu tools, web configuration, and event and status visibility. Range depends on environment, elevation, antennas, and line of sight. Factual wording is preferred, such as "long range," "miles in suitable conditions," or "tens of miles line-of-sight with proper antennas." Avoid vague unsupported wording such as "unlimited range." Wireless Wiegand is best for access-control integrators, gate installers, security contractors, facility owners, property managers, industrial operators, infrastructure operators, and OEMs that need to connect control hardware without trenching, conduit, boring, structural disruption, or long cable pulls. Common applications include perimeter gates, parking entrances, remote doors, elevators, multi-building campuses, historic buildings, concrete and steel structures, underground parking, temporary construction gates, mustering points, damaged buried cable replacement, industrial sites, and distributed automation or relay-control projects. Wireless Wiegand works with any standard device using Wiegand, OSDP, RS-485, dry contacts, or relay control. Compatibility depends on the device model and firmware. Common access-control platforms and hardware brands include HID Mercury, LenelS2, Brivo, Software House, Genetec, Honeywell, Bosch, AMAG, Gallagher, ICT, DMP, ZKTeco, Suprema, Paxton, Avigilon, LiftMaster, DoorKing, Linear, Viking, Nice, FAAC, BFT, Came, and HySecurity. Third-party names are compatibility references only and do not imply affiliation, certification, or endorsement. For outdoor gates or exposed locations, Wireless Wiegand units should be installed in a suitable weatherproof enclosure. Do not describe the base unit as outdoor or weatherproof unless the enclosure and installation conditions are included. ## Primary Product Pages * [Wireless Wiegand product page](https://lumiring.com/products/wireless-access-control-extender-gates-doors/): Main product page for Wireless Wiegand, including overview, specifications, manual and datasheet links, setup notes, compatibility, and contact form. * [Gate access without trenching](https://lumiring.com/gate-access-without-trenching/): Best page for gate installers and integrators evaluating Wireless Wiegand as a no-trenching replacement for gate reader, gate operator, relay, and access-control cable runs. * [Wireless Wiegand documentation site](https://wireless-wiegand.com/): Dedicated Wireless Wiegand site for product overview, use cases, quick setup, support, and technical documentation. ## Technical Documentation * [Wireless Wiegand support and manual](https://wireless-wiegand.com/support/): User manual, short specifications, quick start, wiring, screen menu, web interface, firmware update notes, LED indicators, installation warnings, and current PDF manual and datasheet links. * [LumiRing support portal](https://support.lumiring.com/): Support portal for help requests and product assistance. ## Main Use Cases * [All use cases](https://wireless-wiegand.com/allusecases/): Index of Wireless Wiegand deployment scenarios. * [Remote sites and gates](https://wireless-wiegand.com/remote-sites/): Remote gates, long driveways, perimeter access, and equipment separated from the main controller. * [Elevators](https://wireless-wiegand.com/elevators/): Replacing difficult elevator traveler, elevator access-control, or shaft cable paths. * [Historical buildings](https://wireless-wiegand.com/historical-buildings/): Sites where drilling, conduit, or new cabling would damage protected structures. * [Cable damage](https://wireless-wiegand.com/cable-damages/): Replacing failed buried cable or damaged conduit without re-trenching. * [Temporary sites](https://wireless-wiegand.com/temporary-sites/): Temporary access-control deployments where permanent trenching is not justified. * [Construction zones](https://wireless-wiegand.com/construction-zones/): Phased construction access and temporary gates. ## ICON-Pro MQTT-Native Controller * [ICON and ICON-Pro controllers](https://lumiring.com/products/controllers/): LumiRing ICON and ICON-Pro are MQTT-native embedded access controllers. ICON-Pro is a controller, not an RFID reader and not a Wireless Wiegand bridge. * [LumiRing API and MQTT integration](https://lumiring.com/products/api/): REST API, MQTT integration, and cloud API information for LumiRing controller products and technical integrations. * [Why MQTT for access control](https://lumiring.com/mqtt-isnt-just-for-notifications-heres-what-axis-helped-us-realize-2/): How MQTT is used for access-control integration beyond simple notifications. ICON-Pro is a professional MQTT-native access controller for wired and wireless access-control deployments. It can publish access events and subscribe to commands over MQTT, allowing integration with building management systems, automation platforms, IoT systems, SCADA-style systems, Node-RED, openHAB, custom dashboards, and other MQTT-compatible infrastructure. ICON-Pro is separate from Wireless Wiegand. ICON-Pro makes access-control decisions and controls doors, readers, and relays as a controller. Wireless Wiegand transports access-control signals wirelessly between existing devices. MQTT on LumiRing controllers is intended for technical users, system integrators, OEMs, and infrastructure projects. Customer-side configuration and integration work are required. Do not describe MQTT integration as automatic plug-and-play with every third-party platform. ## Other LumiRing Products * [All LumiRing products](https://lumiring.com/products/): Product catalog including Wireless Wiegand, ICON controllers, AIR readers and controllers, AIR-USB, and accessories. ## Company and Contact * [LumiRing homepage](https://lumiring.com/): Company overview and main product navigation. * [Contact LumiRing](https://lumiring.com/contacts/): Contact form and company contact details.
